Map with Pie Charts

The Map with Pie Charts plugin adds dynamic, interactive capabilities to a traditional map chart. Users can click on any country to transform it into a pie chart that displays regional data breakdowns. Each slice of the pie is also interactive, allowing for deeper exploration, comparison, and analysis—all within a smooth, intuitive interface designed to support immersive data navigation.

Installation and configuration

The Map with Pie Charts plugin can be installed by an Admin, following the directions in Installing QBeeQ Plugins.

Creating a new Map with Pie Charts

To create a new Map with Pie Charts:

  1. Choose Country Pie Chart by QBeeQ from the widget dropdown list

Select chart data

Use the data panel to select:

This plugin expects a Country dimension to generate and map the countries in the world map.

  • Countries – Add a Country dimension to map data onto the world map
  • Category – Add a dimension to define how each pie chart is segmented
  • Value – Add a formula or value to determine the size of each pie slice per country
  • Extra Values – Optionally add additional data to display in the tooltip when hovering over a point. This can include aggregations, formulas, or raw details

Coloring
Defines how the countries are colored. If by Category then it will behave as a break by, meaning each word will be allocated a color value from within the range at no specified order. If by Value, the Color Axis data

Category: the colors will behave as a Break By, where each word will be allocated a color value from within the range at no specified order. Value: the Color Axis data panel will define the conditional color formatting.

Using the Map with Pie Charts

Click to BreakBy

Viewers can click on any country with available data. When clicked, the country will transform into a pie chart, using the Break By and Values data panels to define its segments.

Tooltips

Viewers can hover over any pie slice to see a tooltip. The tooltip displays the corresponding values from the Break By and Values fields for that country.
