Super Map Polygon Tooltips
This guide walks Sisense Dashboard Designers through configuring polygon tooltips on Super Map visualizations, including setting up the Polygon Tooltip data panel, choosing hover or click display mode, reordering tooltip fields, and using tooltip links for Jump to Dashboard and filter interactions.
Polygon tooltips allow Super Map visualizations to surface contextual data when a user interacts with a polygon, either by hovering over it or clicking on it. Tooltips are configured per polygon layer and can display any dimension or measure added to the Polygon Tooltip data panel.

Before you start
- Display Polygon must be enabled under the Map Layers section of the Design Panel
- Data must be added to the Polygon Tooltips section of the Data Panel
Choosing a tooltip display trigger
- Navigate to the Design Panel > Advanced > Polygon Tooltips
- Use the drop down to configure how the tooltip is triggered
Display trigger | Description | Dismiss behavior |
Click | The tooltip appears when the user clicks on a polygon (Default) | Clicking on an empty area of the map will dismiss the tooltip. |
Hover | The tooltip appears when the user moves their cursor over a polygon | If the tooltip popup is dismissed (e.g. by clicking the close button), tooltips will not reappear until the cursor moves off and back over a polygon. |
Selecting data to display in tooltips
Data from the Polygon Tooltip area in the Data Panel can be added to tooltips shown when a user interacts with a polygon.
The order in which fields appear in the tooltip popup can be customized per polygon layer.
As data is selected, the position (pos. 1) is displayed. As data are deselected, the positions will adjust accordingly.
Each polygon layer has its own independent tooltip configuration. If you are using multiple polygon layers, configure and reorder tooltip fields separately for each layer.
Reordering tooltip data
To completely reorder the tooltip data, deselect all data, and re-select in the preferred order.
Tooltip behavior with Jump to Dashboard and Dashboard Filters
When Jump to Dashboard (JTD) or Dashboard Filters are enabled under Advanced > Navigability, tooltip behavior changes based on the active display mode.
